Elvis serenades the grandparents
CEBU, Philippines - While looking for a barong Tagalog at SM which I'll be using in my niece's wedding in San Francisco, I got a call from SM Foodcourt manager Cherry Godinez, asking if Elvis could perform during Grandparents Day. I was a bit apprehensive as Cherry only gave us four days. She said they had a hard time looking for impersonators of the 60s and 70s. Despite the quick notice, I gathered my talents, Jhun Villahermosa, The Frank Sinatra of the Visayas, Mark Anthony Babiera, the Michael Jackson of the Visayas and various artists specialist, Boyet Lim, one of Cebu's top balladeers and of course Elvis. Well I'm glad we did not dissappoint the crowd and Cherry, as we treated the shoppers and diners with music of the Platters, Andy Wiliams, Frank Sinatra and Elvis, I'm quite excited now as I'll soon visit Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee and check if they cut the grass around my "grave", from there we will proceed to Nashville, the seat of country music and home to singers such as Dolly Parton and Johnny Cash. Then we'll be at Las Vegas and Los Angeles before flying to New York City, my final stop before going back to the Philippines. My brother Dr. Jun said he already got me a ticket to Broadway's Phantom of the Opera and a race bib to a 10k run in Central Park. My sister Eloise said you could start singing "New York, New York", "Memphis" by Chuck Berry, "I Left My Heart in San Francisco", "Viva Las Vegas" or "LA is My Lady". (FREEMAN)
