MMA showdown tonight at Coliseum

CEBU, Philippines - Brooks faces Abucayan for heavyweight title of GPC 7:Resolution Cebuano fight fans will be treated to another exciting Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) showdown as the seventh installment of the highly-successful Ground and Pound series billed as ‘Resolution’ unfolds tonight at the Cebu Coliseum.

In the main event of the slambang show presented by Yaw-Yan ArDigma Martial Arts Federation, Inc., Cebu-based British fighter Cris "Lindol" Brooks of Yaw-Yan ArDigma will mix it up with Davaoeño Lloyd Abucayan of Mindanao's Beefit Pythons Pit for the vacant Ground and Pound Championship (GPC) heavyweight crown.

“I acknowledge his (Abucayan) achievements being a wrestling champion and a judo black-belter, but this is MMA and wherever he takes the fight, whether it’s in the ground or standing up, I’ll make sure he will regret it,” said the 6-foot-2 British warrior.

For his part, the 18-year-old Abucayan is not intimidated by Brooks’ size, even as he expressed confidence of pulling a major upset tonight.

"My opponent is big. He looks strong and he is taller than me," said Abucayan. "But I will never back down. I’ll show him the heart of a Davaoñeo.”

In the supporting main event,  Mindanao's Lorde Rey "Punisher" Yamit who will the first defense of his GPC lightweight title against veteran Cebuano kickboxer Kru Robert "Maldito" Serdone from Redneos Iron Gladiator MMA of Talisay City.

Cebu's pride James "Spider" Serenio completes the slambang MMA triple-header as he battles URCC veteran Victor “Gladiator’ Torre for the GPC flyweight title.

In the lone kickboxing duel that has been set a special attraction, Yaw-Yan Fighting Challenge (YFC) champion Renante "Limbas" Noblefranca will defend his throne for the second time against Marjun "Muma Warrior" Porriento.

The rest of the card pits Mark ‘Terminator’ Araneta vs. Rik ‘Hammer’ Cubillas; Maxlito ‘Hyper Eagle’ Yong vs. Frederick ‘Spider Lim; Erving ‘Zombie’ Mosico vs. Rocky Tune ‘Outlaw’ Batolbatol; Moises ‘Tarzan Boy’ Nudalo vs. Urtych ‘Tank’ Allarin; Alex ‘Pilot’ Abraham vs. Perkins ‘Predator’ Calixto; Lemuel ‘Musang’ Maglinte vs. John Edu ‘Excalibur’ Torbiso; Ralp Loui ‘Silent Assassin’ Arcayan vs. Jess ‘Alpa’ Catayas; and Leo ‘Lion X’ Rodrigo vs. Ismael ‘Tsunami Walk’ Gomez.
