Tillor, Tabal win 21K race; Andrin siblings turn Aphan’s Run into a family affair

CEBU, Philippines - Noel Tillor and Mary Joy Tabal stole the thunder in the 21K open of the Alphan's 'Run For A Scholar' yesterday starting and ending at the Terraces grounds of Ayala Center Cebu.

Tillor outran Kenyan Isaac Simat to lord it over in the men's division with the best time of one hour three minutes and 46 seconds. He was three minutes ahead of Simat as Robert Daang finished third in 1:18:38. Arcel Bohol and Vincentr Badajos occupied the next two spots with a 1:23:34 and 1:23:37 clocking, respectively.

Rounding up the top 10 finishers were Peter Canumay (1:25:02), Jezrel Baguio (1:25:37), Junito Catipay

(1:27:49), Jeramie Leal (1:30:54) and Bayani Alvarez (1:36:47).

Tabal came out the fastest in the women's side in one hour, 29 minutes and 36 seconds. She was trailed by Mereis Ramirez who timed 1:35:45, while Sandra Sollano wound up third in 1:40:55 followed by ultra marathoner Rhoda Oporto in 1:52:33.

The fifth to 10th placers were Patricia Tumulak (1:59:25), Malou Shimizu (2:03:28), Rosalinda Co (2:17:23), Marly Busa (2:23:18), Jessica Arevalo (2:30:06) and Luisita Jadulco (2:30:40).

The Adrin siblings Ronnie, Cherry, Lovely, Jhean and Joel also caught part of the spotlight after topping their respective classes. Ronnie and Cherry swept the 12K titles, Lovely grabbed the women's 6K crown, while Joel ended up second in the men's 3K battle won by Ando Mejares with the time of nine minutes and 18.13 seconds.

Ronnie clocked in 41 minutes and 56 seconds, a minute ahead of Riez Enriquez as Nolan Ulmilla (45:07), Ian Refuela (45:53) and Arnel Florentino (47:16) notched the third to fifth places. Cherry registered the time of 53 minutes and 16.57 seconds, enough to edge out Sara Lee Cuizon who submitted 56:44 followed by Michelle Beboso (57:07), Leonora Villamora (1:03:09) and Cherrylen Villarta (1:17:25.

Lovely Andrin, on the other hand, registered the best time in the women's 6K at 24 minutes and 59 seconds, a minute and 30 seconds ahead of her sister Jhean as Margie Villarta grabbed the third place honors in 35:25.

The top three performers in the men's 6K were Jobert Carolino (20:03), Rafael Piscos (20:10), and Jodel Batarilan (21:29), while the fastest entries in the women's 3K were Lynle Cardenas (11:42), Shaiya Uy (13:29) and Marilou Albares (16:10).
