Mancio keeps Phl light flyweight belt
CEBU, Philippines - ALA Boxing Gym stalwart Jerson ‘Smooth Operator’ Mancio kept his Philippine light flyweight title after scoring a fifth round stoppage of Elorde Stable’s fighter Robel Villegas the other night at the Flash Grand Ballroom of the Elorde Sports Complex in Parañaque City.
The 25-year-old Mancio showed his superior punching power when he floored Villegas in round three. It was, however, his vicious combinations that finished off his opponent in the fifth.
Mancio, thus, improved his record to 17-3 now spiked with 8KOs, while Villegas suffered his seventh loss in his 16 fights.
Mancio is also on a four-fight winning streak and is hoping to get another shot at the OPBF throne. Mancio once fought for the OPBF belt but lost via 4th round TKO to Japanese Ryo Miyazaki in October 2010 in Osaka, Japan. (FREEMAN)
