CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu Landmasters-USC Warriors and the San Marino Tuna/CIT-U Wildcats will clash head-on in a playoff match to determine the No.3 qualifier in the Enervon CESAFI Partner's Cup today at the Cebu Coliseum.
Gametime is set at 4 pm.
The Cebu Landmasters and San Marino Tuna finished the double round elimination with identical 5-5 win-loss records, thus, the playoff as stipulated in the tournament rules.
Interestingly, the two protagonists split their first two meetings, making their third showdown more exciting.
Regardless of the outcome though, both are already assured of a twice-to-beat advantage going into the quarterfinal stage.
The only bonus for the winner is that it will face next the winless Raphael's Cafe/USJ-R Jaguars, while the lose will go up against the fifth-ranked Lion Tiger-USPF Panthers.
Manpower wise, the Cebu Landmasters of coach Julian Macoy have a slight edge because they have a 6-foot-5 Cameroonian recruit in Ahmed Salihou. They can also count on the likes of Nico Magat, Ian Ortega, Stephen Que and Charles Pepito, among others.
San Marino Tuna of coach Gilbert Demape, on the other hand, is expected to squeeze the most from Joshua dela Cerna, Vincent Menguito, Alan Dimco, Floyd Taboada and Franklyn Batiquin. (GGM) (FREEMAN)
