CEBU, Philippines - The Prime Asia Lending-UV Lancers completed a clean 10-0 sweep in the double round elimination following an 86-78 drubbing of the Gaisano Capital South-UC Webmasters in the Enervon CESAFI Partner's Cup 2013 basketball tournament last Saturday night at the Cebu Coliseum.
Despite the setback, Gaisano Capital still came out as the second seed going into the next stage of the competition with a 6-4 win-loss record, while the Cebu Landmasters-USC Warriors and San Marino Tuna/CIT-U Wildcats will have to go through a playoff match to detemine the No.3 qualifier.
The playoff is set on May 16 yet, with the winner taking on the sixth-ranked Raphael's Cafe/USJ-R Jaguars in the quarterfinal round set to start on May 18. The loser, on the other hand, will play against the fifth seed Lion Tiger-USPF Panthers.
Both the No.3 and No.4 squads are armed with twice-to-beat incentives.
At the close of the elimination, Prime Asia reaffirmed its dominance over Gaisano Capital, which it demolished, 80-57, during their first meeting.
Interestingly, only Wowie Escocio cashed in double figures for Prime Asia with 14 points.
In the other game, San Marino Tuna also reasserted its supremacy over Lion Tiger via an 84-71 decision. They ended their campaigns with identical 5-5 win-loss records, thus, the playoff as stipulated in the tournament rules.
