Argentina Corned Beef sinks ACY Shipping in CECABA

CEBU, Philippines - Sammy Sia netted 18 points and pulled seven rebounds as Argentina Corned Beef '84/87/90 bested First ACY Shipping 2006, 50-42, in the Cebu Eastern College Alumni Basketball Association's 12th Dr. Chen Lieh Fu Memorial Cup last Thursday night at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym.

Paul Michael Cabellon added 13 points and 11 rebounds, while Frederick Chua and Henrich Chua connived for only 11 points, but combined for 13 rebounds, six assists and two steals for Class '84/87/90, which used a devastating endgame attack to stun Class 2006 at the final buzzer.

Class 2006 was actually dominant in the early goings, closing the first half with a 10-point edge, 28-18. They were still ahead by six at the end of the third period, but Class '84/87/90 suddenly spewed fire and closed the match with an 18-4 bang to complete a huge turnaround.

Class '84/87/80, thus, tallied its fourth win in 14 starts, while dropping Class 2006 to 2-12 in the company of PTT 2005.

In the other game, Joseph Baluyos, Jr. had 20 points, three steals, two rebounds and two assists, while Harold James Tan added 14 markers in top of a dozen rebounds as Fil-Ann 2009 slammed PTT 2005, 52-44, for its only third victory in 13 games. Philip John Lua was the lone bright spot fo Class 2005 with 20 points, five rebounds and two steals.
