CEBU, Philippines - Donald Anthony Ting had 20 points, five rebounds and two asssists, Dean Dy Teves added 14 points, seven blocks, six rebounds and three steals and the New Millennium Hardware '95 rallied to a 64-59 victory over JV Shop n Shop '97 in the Cebu Eastern College Alumni Basketball Association's 12th Dr. Chen Lieh Fu Memorial Cup last Friday night at the CEC gym.
Raymond Gollon and Joseph James Yu connived for 16 points, 10 rebounds, four assists and two blocks as Class '95 weathered a spirited resistance by Class '97 all game along to escape with a five-point win and fortify its hold of the solo second spot with a 9-1 record.
Class '95 actually trailed by three points at halftime, 27-30, but used a 17-9 run in the third period to turn the tide of the match in its favor.
Aubrey Jones Ibones finished with 16 points, four rebounds and two steals for Class '97. Timothie Tan banged in 15 points, five rebounds and two steals but couldn't make a difference as they slipped to even 5-5 card.
In the main game, Kristoffer Dennis Lee posted 22 points on top of four rebounds and the same number of assists as PTT 2005 squeezed through a 60-58 victory over First ACY Shipping Corp. 2006.
Kent Benedict Uy tossed in 10 points, six rebounds and two assists as Class 2005 notched its only second win in nine starts. They were in full control after closing the first half with a seven-point edge, 30-23.
Class 2006 fought back with savvy in the windup, but fell short in the end on the way to absorbing its eighth loss in 10 games. Junwynn Dy was the long bright spot for Class 2006 with 27 points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals.
