UV still undefeated in ThreeSixty Pharmacy Cup
CEBU, Philippines - Over a weekend that featured 28 games and three venues, the University of the Visayas (UV) maintained its undefeated run as all its teams scored wins over its opponents in separate age groups of the ThreeSixty Pharmacy (TSP) Cup 2013: CYBL 6.
UV cruised to its fourth straight win the Under 13 Division A with a 68-36 whacking of Cebu Eastern College (CEC), while the UV-A Under 16 squad scored its second straight win, 78-28, over the University of San Jose Recoletos (USJR) in an Under 16 Division A game Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) Mango Avenue Campus Gym. And if that wasn’t enough, the UV-B U16 team cruised past University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF), 49-32, for its third straight win in Under 16 Division B action. All three UV teams have now taken solo leadership in their respective brackets.
In other games of the Under 13 Division A, SHS-AdC improved to 3-0 with a 46-36 win over the University of San Carlos (USC). USJR-A scored its first win in four games by stopping SHS-AdC-B, 37-19. CEC split its games over the weekend as it also beat Don Bosco-A, 49-31 at one of four games played at the CEC Gym.
Don Bosco-A bounced back from the loss by nipping USJR-A, 37-36. In the Under 10 age group, USC North scored two wins over the weekend, nipping SHS-AdC, 20-18, before defeating USJR-A, 36-24. SHS-AdC recovered from the loss to USC North by tripping USC South, 31-18. Guest team CEC defeated USC South, 44-7.
Games in the Under 16 Division A saw guest team Don Bosco-A top USJR-A, 73-53 at a game played at the Don Bosco Gym, and SHS-AdC 1, 45-35.
Trailing UV (4-0) in the team standings of the Under 13 Division A are SHS-AdC (3-0), CEC (2-2), USC (2-2), DB-A (1-2), USJR-A (1-4) and SHS-AdC B (0-3).
The Under 10 age group is led by guest team CEC (4-0), USC North (3-1), SHS-AdC (2-2), USJR-A (2-2), USC South (1-4) and USJR-B (0-4). CEC though, is not eligible for a spot in the playoffs.
In the Under 16 Division A, UV-A and guest team Don Bosco-A are tied at the top at 2-0 followed by CEC (1-1), SHS-AdC (1-1), Abellana (0-2) and USJR (0-2). (FREEMAN)
