CEBU, Philippines - Enrich Rafael (ERCO) FC came from behind to repulse Innodata, 2-1, in extra time and clinch the championship of the inter-BPO/company division in the 15th Aboitiz Cup football tournament yesterday at the Aboitiz Sports Field in Subangdaku, Mandaue City.
Innodata started out aggressively to eventually break the ice of the match.
ERCO, however, bounced back in the second half to tie the game at the end of the regulation period.
A four-pass play from ERCO midfielder down to Engr. Marvin Gojoco that was left undefended kept ERCO alive and kicking in the match.
In the extension, Rene Inoc added one more goal for ERCO via penalty. ERCO was awarded with such after Innodata's defender got a handball that caused them in big trouble.
From there onwards, the ERCO booters were in full control to claim their first inter-BPO crown in the Aboitiz Cup.
"Timing jud na complete mi ron kay ang akong mga tawo walay project sa layo so nakaduwa sila like si Inoc, dako jud siya na contribute karon," said ERCO team manager Engr. Rodney Orale. (FREEMAN)
