Bullos easily dismantles Japanese foe in URCC 8

Lemuel P. Maglinte - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Cary ‘The Prince’ Bullos of SELDEF MMA needed only 39 seconds to crush Japanese Hideo ‘Death from Tokyo’ Morikawa in the main event of the Colt 45-presented Universal Reality Combat Championship (URCC) Cebu 8: Survival the other night at the J Centre Convention Hall along A.S Fortuna Street in Mandaue City.

The reigning URCC Visayas bantamweight champion did not waste time as he pressed the attack button right after the opening bell using his high-kicks that forced Morikawa to back down.

Moments later, the 29-year-old Cebuano launched a devastating ‘super-man’ punch that sent the Japanese fighter on the canvas, forcing referee Christian Wong to halt the fight.

The match was a little bit controversial as Morikawa's corner claimed that the stoppage was too early, but Wong stood pat on his decision.

“I really aimed for an impressive fight and I’m glad I did it,” said Bullos. “I owe it to my training team and sparring partners. All my hardwork really paid off.”

Bullos said he is expecting bigger fights to follow and that he would want more challenge from foreign opponents.

“Morikawa asked for rematch, and that is not a problem with me.  I am willing to face anyone they put in front of me and I am really proud to raise the Philippine flag in my future fights,” said Bullos.

In the the supporting main event, Bullos’ teammate Jimmy ‘Silencer’ Yabo knocked out Mindanao fighter Lorde Rey Yamit of Python’s Pit at 9:28 of the first round.

On the other hand, Yaw-Yan ArDigma and DEFTAC Cebu’s Vaughn ‘Spawn’ Donayre made shortwork of veteran Mindanao warrior Allan ‘Gameplan’ Atup via armbar submission in the opening round. Alexander ‘Pilot’  Abraham pulled off similar win over Junrey Soquite.

In other matches, Arnel Ylanan won over Jhonjier Torbiso, Jeremy Quinonero beat Roel Rosauro, Moises Nodalo tamed  Ervin Musico and Leo Rodrigo outwitted Rodel Rejalde.
