CEBU, Philippines - The Queen City United (QCU) FC opened its title defense in the premiere men’s open division with a 3-0 whacking of Lapu-Lapu City's FC Inter-Cebu in the 15th Aboitiz Cup football tournament yesterday at the Aboitiz Sports Field in Brgy. Subangdaku, Mandaue City.
In the age-group battle, the Don Bosco Technology Center (DBTC) booters bagged two semifinal slots in the players 6 category.
DBTC-A silenced Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu, 3-0, in group A, while its team B pulled off similar victory over Children’s Paradise Montessori School.
DBTC-A, thus, topped group A with seven points and 10 goal difference, while SHS-Ateneo de Cebu landed at no. 2 with six points and four goal difference.
DBTC-B, on the other hand, topped group B with seven points and nine goal difference followed by Giuseppe also with seven points and 8 goal difference. Giuseppe sealed its elimination round campaign with a 6-0 shutout of Bright Academy.
DBTC-A will face next Giuseppe, while DBTC-B will take on SHS-AdC in the semifinal round today.
In the players 8 action, DBTC-4 defeated SHS-Hijas de Jesus, 4-1, while DBTC-3 overpowered Cebu International School, 5-1. SHS-AdC came up with a 6-0 beating of SRFC-B, Lahug-B dumped St.John Kenty, 10-0, while CMPS whipped Bright Academy-B, 3-0.
DBTC-1 slammed SHS-AdC-A, 6-0, in the players 10. SHS-AdC-B spared no mercy against SHS-Hijas de Jesus, 13-0, USC-BED outsmarted Dinamo South, 3-2, Bright Academy pounded out a 9-1 win over Subangdaku FC, while Canduman hacked out a 2-0 triumph over Bright Minds in Action Learning Village.
