Dalogdog: Be cautious with calls using my name

Romeo Marantal - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines —  Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) Director, Police Colonel Ireneo Dalogdog, has reminded the public to refrain from entertaining calls that may use his name.

This, after the chief of the Cebu City Police Station 5, Police Major Kenneth Paul Albotra, reported that he received an anonymous call claiming to be the city director.

Albotra, however, added that it was suspicious after hearing the caller speaking Tagalog fluently.

In context, the city director is a native Cebuano speaker.

Aside from this, another similar incident occurred wherein the Cebu City Engineer, Engr. Kenneth Enriquez, received a call, this time threatening him.

“Giingnan daw nga engineer lang ka, si CD ni, Colonel Dalogdog ni, si Colonel Dalogdog ito,” the CCPO chief told the media, recalling what Enriquez has reported to him.

Right after the incident, Dalogdog personally paid the city engineer a visit, explaining that when he reviewed such call, he was in Davao for a prior commitment.

Dalogdog also told Enriquez that he couldn’t dare confront the city engineer in that manner.

“Kato nga time niana si Maam nga mailhan gyud nako colonel nga dili gyud to ikaw kay bisaya man kay kag sinultian. Akong giingnan kabalo ko motagalog pero ang iyahang tingog lahi daw, tagalog gyud daw,” Dalogdog added.

Dalogdog reiterated that various scammers have surfaced and would just randomly victimize anyone.

He encouraged the public to be cautious enough in handling possible scammers and impostors, and immediately turn them down. — GAN (FREEMAN)
