Rival frats unite versus graffiti
CEBU, Philippines — Some members of the Tau Gamma Phi and Alpha Kappa Rho fraternities have shown some unity over the weekend through a re-painting session to get rid of graffiti in Cebu City.
The two fraternity groups, who are known to be rivals, managed to work together peacefully for one good cause upon the invitation of City Councilor Jaypee Labella.
Last Saturday, the two groups got rid of some graffiti and vandalism on some walls in Lorega-San Miguel along MJ Cuenco Avenue, Cebu City.
From the usual white paint, they used the colors red, yellow, and green to paint the walls. It was not explained what those colors represent or mean.
Labella is hoping that what the two groups did last Saturday will continue.
“Hinaot unta na magsige ta ug tinabangay labi pa sa pagtabang sa mga proyekto sa atoang syudad,” Labella said, in an appreciation post for the two fraternity groups.
Mayor Michael Rama has directed Labella to free the city from graffiti and vandalism.
To do this, he has tapped the assistance and support of the different fraternities, gangs, and groups to help get rid of this eyesore, as some of their members reportedly are also the ones vandalizing the walls in different parts of the cities.
There had already been several re-painting sessions done by Labella together with different groups, even from those groups outside of Cebu City, yet, there are still a lot of areas that need repainting. — GAN (FREEMAN)
