To solve traffic problem: Chan bares infrastructure projects
CEBU, Philippines — Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Junard Chan revealed several infrastructure projects his administration will be undertaking to address the traffic problem in the city.
These include three diversion roads, flyover, tri-level interchange, among others.
The mayor announced these projects during “The Dialogue” forum with the tourism stakeholders held recently.
According to Chan, the three diversion roads from Sudtonggan, Basak to Gabi, Cordova; George Tampus Road in Basak to Kalolo/Timpoloc in Babag; and Pakpakan, Basak to Collinwood are expected to be done within this year.
He said the city government has already allocated budget for these projects. His wife, Lapu-Lapu City Lone District Rep. Cindi King-Chan, also contributed.
Four other major infrastructure projects are expected to commence next year. These include a flyover at the Marigondon crossing; a tri-level interchange at ML Quezon; a coastal highway; and the 4th Cebu-Mactan Bridge.
Chan said the tri-level interchange will serve as alternate road from Basak to Pusok and vice versa. The coastal highway will also serve as alternate road for motorists to avoid congestion in the city’s main thoroughfares.
Chan said these are just among the infrastructure projects that he and his wife are pursuing with the support of the members of the city council. — FPL (FREEMAN)
