Radaza bares accomplishments

CEBU, Philippines —  Despite the challenges brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic and typhoon Odette, Lapu-Lapu City Lone District Representative Paz Radaza claimed that she has achieved so much not only in the legislative front but in bringing in tangible projects to the Opongonons as well.

In her “Report to the Oponganons,” Radaza said she was able to bring in a total of P2.8 billion worth of various infrastructure projects to Lapu-Lapu City.

In 2020, Radaza said that she was also able to secure P860 million budget for road improvement and concreting, construction of multipurpose buildings as well as drainage projects in Barangays San Vicente, Marigondon, Agus, and Pajo. She also claimed to have built a skywalk in Pusok and several other projects. Another P960 million was also secured by her last year for various projects, including the Lapu-Lapu City College.

This year, Radaza said she will be implementing a total of P799 million worth of projects--causeways in Maribago, Tingo and Caubian, STP in Pajo, multipurpose building in Poblacion, Sta. Rosa, and in other barangays.

Radaza said she also continued to implement activities for her different advocacies, including social welfare and development, labor and employment, health, skills development, and education.

 Around 40,000 Oponganons received financial aid through Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation of the Department of Social Welfare and Development. She said a total of P63 million worth of assistance for burial, educational, food, medical, transportation, and others has been dispensed through her office.

For employment, more than 13,000 Oponganons were given job opportunities under the Tulong Panghanapbuhay Alang sa Displaced/Disadvantaged workers and the Government Internship Program of the Department of Labor and Employment.  Radaza said more than P26 million in scholarships also benefited 2,654 Oponganons.

 “We were able to secure also a budget of about P10 million for technical skills development. With this, about 600 Oponganons were able to avail of different trainings from TESDA. Aside from trainings, they were also given equipment, tools, and kits they need,” Radaza said.

For medical needs, like hospital bills, laboratories, medicines, therapy, dialysis, etc., Radaza said she was able to secure a budget of more than P5 million which benefited almost 400 patients.

 “All in all, almost 50,000 Oponganons benefited from our different programs with a budget of about P180 million,” she added.

“Isip magbabalaod, aduna kitay sobra sa 130 ka mga house bills and resolutions,” Radaza claimed.

She cited some legislations like the Bayanihan 1, 2 and 3; Arise, Cures, and New Normal Bills; Salary Standardization Law; Lapulapu International Airport; Lapulapu National Nonworking Holiday; Prohibition against calling a fish Lapulapu; Department of Disaster Resilience; Metro Cebu Train; Increasing the bed capacity of Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center; 25% Discount for the Senior Citizens and many more .

“Gawas sa pagpanday ug mga balaod isip inyong congresswoman, naningkamot sad ko nga direktang makahatag ug tabang o benepisyo kaninyo,” she told the people of Lapu-Lapu who attended when she delivered her report yesterday. — FPL (FREEMAN)
