CEBU, Philippines — Some actions have already been taken on a collapsed fence owned by a construction company in Barangay Basak Pardo, Cebu City. However, residents in the area are hoping that a permanent solution would be done to solve the long standing flooding problem in the area.

Basak Pardo Barangay Captain Dave Tumulak had sought the help of the Cebu City Government to check on the WTA Construction’s property in his barangay to address the residents' concern.

The Office of the Building Official issued a notice of illegal construction and ordered a work stoppage following the collapsed fence last Feb. 19.

Tumulak then thanked the City Government’s prompt action while also thanking WTG Construction for clearing the area.

A resident of the concerned area in Sitio Exoville, though, noted that there is a portion of the collapsed structure that needs to be checked further as water still flows slowly while foul smell from the stagnant waters is also causing them problem.

Tumulak, after a sepate interview with The Freeman, immediately sent a barangay responder to check the area again so it would be address.

Aside from problem in Basak Pardo, the City Government is also looking for solutions on another problem with another company in Barangay Hipodromo.

The Cebu City Council already called on the Aznar Basque Properties Inc. for an executive session to discuss about their property fence that also reportedly blocked a creek in Sitio Cahipa causing the water to backflow to residences when it rains.  (CEBU NEWS)
