Budlaan wins good governance seal again

CEBU, Philippines — Barangay Budlaan prevented Cebu City from a total shutout in the list of Seal of Good Local Governance for the Barangays (SGLGB) national passers in 2024.

Last year, Budlaan also emerged as national winner of the Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentive Awards, another initiative by the Department of Interior and Local Government.

Aside from its lupon, Budlaan, spearheaded by Barangay Captain Nerissa Antolihao, was also the only one among Cebu City’s 80 barangays to comply with all the requirements to get the SGLGB.

The SGLGB is a performance assessment and recognition system to distinguish barangays with outstanding performances in different government areas.

Other towns in Cebu Island and the cities of Mandaue and Lapu-Lapu also had barangays that passed the process to get the SGLGB.

From Mandaue are Barangays Bakilid, Pagsabungan, Subangdaku, and Tabok while Lapu-Lapu has five; Basak, Calawisan, Caw-oy, Punta Engaño, and Subabasbas.

Several other LGUs in the Cebu Island also got SGLGB with Sogod and San Remigio leading, with Sogod having 16 barangay passers; Ampongol, Bagatayam, Cabalawan, Cabangahan, Calumboyan, Dakit, Damolog, Ibabao, Liki, Lubo, Mohon, Nahus-an, Poblacion, Tabunok, Takay, and Pansoy.

San Remigio has 15; Anapog, Argawanon, Batad, Calambua, Canagahan, Dapdap, Kayam, Lawis, Looc, Luyang, Mano, Punta Sab-a, Tacup, To-ong, and Victoria.

Talisay, and Tudela has eight passers each with Talisay City having Cadulawan, Jaclupan, Lagtang, Lawaan I, II, and III, Tabunoc, and Biasong, while Tudela has Buenavista, Calmante, General, McArthur, Northern and Southern Poblacion, Puertobello, and Villahermosa. Carcar had Buenavista, Caligngan, Guadalupe, Napo, Perrelos, Valencia, Poblacion II and III, and Tuyom.

Daanbantayan got five; Dalingding, Logon, Pajo, Poblacion, and Tominjao, while Bantayan has four in Kabac, Guiwanon, Patao, and Suba, along with Carmen with Dawis Norte, Lower and Upper Natimao-an, and two each for Catmon with Tabili, and San Jose Poblacion, Alcoy with Nug-as and San Agustin, and Borbon with Bongoyan and Laaw.

Compostela has three in Canamucan, Cohon and Estaca as well as Danao via Binaliw, Lawaan, and Manlayag Madridejos with Maalat, Poblacion and Tugas and San Fernando with Balud, Liburon and Cabatbatan.

Cordova has two in Ibabao, and San Miguel along with Oslob’s Mainit and Tan-awan and Sante Fe’s Kinatarcan, and Okoy.

One national passer each from seven other LGUs in Cebu, Asturias’ Bairan, Argao’s Balisong, Malabuyoc’s Barangay 1, Medellin’s Caputatan Norte, Minglanilla’s Tunghaan, Pinamungajan’s Lamac, Ronda’s Cansalonoy, and Sibonga’s Magcagong,

Central Visayas itself got 188 national passers with four of them coming from Siquijor in Barangays Cabal-asan, Liloan, Logucan and Sawang all from the LGU of Maria.

Negros Oriental has 37 barangays total with all of Bais’ 35 barangays passing plus Bayawan with barangay Villareal and San Jose with Janayjanay.

Several barangays under different LGUs in Bohol also got the coveted seal, Candijay’s Tubod and Tambongan, Clarin’s Poblacion Centro, Corella’s Anislad, Cancatac, Pandol, and Poblacion, Guindulman’s Badio, Cabantian, and Tabajan, Loay’s Botoc Occidental, and Oriental, Calvario, Poblacion Ibabao, Sagnap, Tangcasan Norte, and Yanangan, Panglao’s Bil-isan, Sagbayan’s Canmaya Diot, Tagbilaran’s Dao, Taloto, and Ubujan, and Valencia’s Pangi-an. — (FREEMAN)
