CEBU, Philippines — Charges of murder and two counts of parricide are expected to be filed against the buko vendor, who allegedly killed his live-in partner and his two children in Purok Kamanggahan, Barangay Lutac, City of Naga, Cebu, on Monday, Jan. 27.

Police Lt. Col. Verniño Noserale, Naga City Police Station chief, in an online press conference yesterday, said that the complaints will be filed today against Carlo Denata Camporedondo, 33, who is currently under hospital arrest.

Police arrested Carlo for allegedly hacking to death his live-in partner for 14 years, Junelyn Gimenez, 32, and their two children, Jun Carl Camporedondo, 11, and LJ Camporedondo, 2.

Noserale said that it took them five hours and a half to locate and arrest the suspect, who ran toward the mountainous area of the barangay after slashing the necks of the three victims.

The police chief said that with the aid of a drone from the City of Toledo, his team was able to locate Carlo, as the area is too vast spanning in Naga's five barangays.

Noserale said Carlo attempted to attack one of the arresting officers using the bolo he used in killing the victims.

“Our responding police personnel has no choice also to use a reasonable force to subdue the suspect,” said Noserale.

Carlo was taken to a hospital after sustaining a gunshot wound in his right knee.

Noserale said an investigation is still being conducted to find out the motive in the brutal attack. Among the motives they are looking into are being hooked in an online gambling, lack of money, jealousy and use of illegal drugs.

"Kani tanan nga angles mao ni ang gitutukan sa atong investigator,” said Nosarale.

He added that the mother of Junelyn will also execute her affidavit today.

The seven-year-old child of the couple, who was in school when the incident happened, is undergoing psychological debriefing.

Psychological debriefing is defined as a formal version of providing emotional and psychological support immediately following a traumatic event. — (FREEMAN) JG
