City unveils month-long Charter Day activities
CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu City government has announced a series of events to mark the 88th Charter Day celebration of the city. While the official Charter Day falls on February 24, the city’s Public Information Office (PIO) revealed that the celebration will be held all throughout the month.
During a meeting with department heads and Mayor Raymond Garcia, the final lineup of activities was confirmed. These events aim to honor Cebu City’s rich history and culture while fostering community spirit.
The celebration will commence on February 13 with the Don Vicente Rama Memorial Lecture, paying tribute to the Father of the City Charter and grandfather of former mayor Michael Rama.
On February 14, the city will host a Valentine’s Day Fair, followed by a Wellness Hub for employees from February 17 to 21. A meat products display will also be available during this period.
An exhibit showcasing the city’s milestones will run from February 17 to 28, complemented by the City Hall in Action Exhibit from February 21 to 23.
Other key activities include: PRAISE Awards on February 19, Pet Day on February 20, Adlaw sa Dilang Sugboanon (a celebration of Cebuano language and culture) on February 21 and 22, Testimonial Dinner on February 22, and Family Day on February 23.
The highlight of the celebration will be the Charter Day ceremony and “Kasadra” on February 24.
On February 25, the city will unveil and inaugurate a Clock Tower at a yet-to-be-disclosed location. The month-long celebration will conclude with Himigugma on February 26 and Taxpayers’ Night on February 28. — (FREEMAN)
