CEBU, Philippines — The six towns and one city in the 3rd District of Cebu Province have been given a commendation by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan after passing the 2024 Child-Friendly Local Government Audit (CFLGA).

3rd District Board Member John Ismael Borgonia authored seven separate resolutions congratulating the towns and a city under its district for passing the said audit, conducted and reviewed by the Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC)

In the list released by the CWC, out of the 64 municipalities in Central Visayas, 44 are from Cebu, with the Sogod Town topping the list with its 97.11% rating.

For the 3rd District LGUs, Balamban scored 93.50%, Tuburan 92.17%, Pinamungajan 91.93%, Aloguinsan 91%, Toledo City 88.50%, Asturias 87.99%, and Barili 87.12%.

In his resolutions, Borgonia said these LGUs demonstrated “commitment in ensuring and safeguarding the welfare of the children within its jurisdiction.”

“This impressive achievement serves as an inspiration not only to its fellow local government units but also to all the Cebuanos,” Borgonia said.

3rd District Board Member Victoria Corominas-Toribio also authored resolutions commending the said LGUs for the same achievement.

CFLGA is a result-based assessment tool that aims to inform and guide LGUs to have programs for its children, ensuring free access to inclusive social services and prioritizing child-rights responsive governance and accountability.

It was established in 2014 through a DILG memorandum which was designed to evaluate the performance of the LGUs in establishing programs for the welfare of children.

According to the DILG, 895 cities and municipalities passed the 2024 CFLGA and will be conferred with the Seal of Child-Friendly Local Governance. — (FREEMAN)
