CEBU, Philippines — Celebrating the Señor Santo Niño is not only limited to Cebu City.
Aside from the Sinulog in Cebu City and the Sinulog sa Carmen in northern Cebu, the town of Badian in southern part of the island is also having a celebration of the Holy Child.
A Sinulog sa Badian Festival 2025 is slated for January 26, a week after the Sinulog Grand Parade in Cebu City.
"As we come together to honor our rich cultural heritage and devotion to Señor Santo Niño, we are thrilled to share the official guidelines to ensure that Sinulog sa Badian 2025 is a meaningful, vibrant, and safe celebration for everyone” the Badian Tourism Office announced through its Breathtaking Badian Facebook page.
Just like the Sinulog celebrations in Cebu, Badian is welcoming contingents for its festival but it is limited to all Badiaganons only.
The LGU released the official guidelines for those performers: Those who want to join can form a group with members aged 10 years old to 59 years old, with 40-60 performers including propsmen, actors, and andas bearers.
Each of the contingents will be given eight minutes for their presentation including the recorded add-ons as well as the ingress and egress and the set-up and removal of props.
The contingents are required to showcase the Sinulog sa Badian Festival 2025 theme with clear storyline. Presentations that insinuate sexual, vulgar, or violent behavior are prohibited.
As to the costume, the pre-Hispanic theme, modern Filipiniana, among others are required. As for backdrops and props, live animals, balloons, fireworks, real weapons, among others are not allowed.
The festival will begin with a street dancing that will start from the Badian National High School at 1:30 P.M.
As for the prizes, ?10,000 will be given to each of the winners for Best in Street Dancing, Best in Costume, Best in Musicality, and Sinulog Festival Queen
The champions of the ritual showdown will receive P50,000 while the second placer and third placer will get ?30,000 and ?20,000, respectively.
Non-winning groups will receive a consolation prize of P5,000. — /BRP (FREEMAN INTSINCT
