CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu provincial government extended P8.85 million in financial support to the City of Naga’s Dagitab Festival.

On Monday night, December 23, Governor Gwendolyn Garcia graced the celebration at the Teodoro “Doring” Mendiola Sr. Sports Field and Track Oval, where she made the announcement.

Out of the total amount, P5 million was allocated to cover the city's socio-cultural expenses.

Additionally, the seven participating contingents each received P500,000 from the Capitol to help cover their expenses.

"I think the City of Naga has the most beautiful, expensive, colorful, gorgeous, amazing universe of lights,” said Garcia in her speech.

Garcia also praised the City of Naga, the home of the Dagitab Festival, for having the best Christmas display featuring thousands of dazzling lights.

Meanwhile, for her part, First District Congresswoman Rhea Gullas contributed an additional P50,000 to each of the seven contingents.

Known as the “Festival of Lights,” the City of Naga’s Dagitab Festival features colorful performances, floats, and light displays.

These vibrant displays symbolize the city’s booming energy industry, which has significantly contributed to its continued growth and development.

In fact, the City of Naga recently claimed the champion title at the Pasigarbo sa Sugbo, following its victory on August 25. (CEBU NEWS)
