CEBU, Philippines — Cebu City Mayor Raymond Garcia has been making promises to give out free insurance worth P100,000 to various sectors, including city hall workers.
The latest batch he promised to give insurance was the group of City Hall employees attending a re-orientation seminar conducted by the Human Resource and Development Office (HRDO). During the seminar, Garcia said he will give all field personnel of City Hall a free insurance.
He made the same promise to the Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CCDRRMO). The insurance coverage is worth P100,000 in case of any untoward incident while on the field plus P20,000 hospitalization.
CCDRMO, led by retired fire marshal Aderson Comar, will be the first to enjoy such benefit by January 2025 after submitting the required list of employees. The other offices with personnel involved in some field works are also expected to submit their list as soon as possible for the processing of their insurance.
Garcia said he is also in the process of negotiating with a diagnostic company for a discounted rate for all City Hall employees.
Aside from City Hall employees, Garcia also pledged to give out insurance to food delivery and habal-habal drivers from his own pocket. — /FPL (FREEMAN)
