PB commends 2 drug-cleared barangays
CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu Provincial Board approved separate resolutions commending two drug-cleared barangays in Dalaguete and Dumanjug town in southern Cebu.
Through Resolution No. 0925 series of 2024 in barangay Mananggal in Dalaguete and Resolution No. 1056 series of 2024 in barangay Candabong in Dumanjug, these barangays were declared “drug-cleared” by the Region Oversight Committee on Barangay Drug Clearing Operation in Central Visayas (ROCBDC-7).
This declaration was in accordance with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Memorandum Circular No. 2020 – 026 and Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) Regulation No. 4, series of 2021 sustaining the implementation of Barangay Drug Clearing Program (BDCP).
Both barangays have satisfactorily complied with all the requirements provided under PDEA Memorandum Circular No. 2020 – 06 or the Omnibus Procedures in Declaring a Drug-Affected Barangay as “Drug-Cleared,” as well as DDB Regulation No.4, series of 2021 sustaining the implementation of BDCP.
According to the proposed resolutions, these barangays were officially declared as drug-cleared after thorough deliberation conducted by the committee chaired by the regional director of PDEA-7.
In their commendation, the Cebu Provincial Government has expressed its gratitude for the success of ongoing efforts to combat illegal drugs, highlighting the unwavering support of local government units in implementing the Barangay Drug Clearing Program across cities, municipalities, and barangays.
“It is the paramount concern of the local government unit to maintain peace and order and to effectively curb the proliferation of dangerous drugs and substance,” the resolutions added,” read a portion of both resolutions authored by Provincial Board Member Thadeo Jovito Ouano, chairperson of the Committee on Public safety, Peace and Order; and Dangerous Drugs Prevention. — (FREEMAN)
