3,161 pass CSE-PPT in Region 7
CEBU, Philippines — The Civil Service Commission (CSC)-7 announced that a total of 3,161 individuals from Central Visayas passed the Career Service Examination-Pen and Paper Test (CSE-PPT), with two of them ranking as national topnotchers in the exam held last August.
Data revealed that 7,290 examinees took the CSE-PPT in the region, which includes the provinces of Negros Oriental and Siquijor.
For the CSE Professional Level, only 2,697 out of 6,171 aspirants passed the exam, reflecting a 16.21% passing rate. Meanwhile, the CSE Sub-Professional Level recorded a 16.29% passing rate, with 464 out of 1,119 examinees.
In an exclusive interview with The FREEMAN, CSC-7 chief of human resources specialist Prolaine Daclan revealed that two of the successful examinees in the region ranked among the topnotchers nationally.
Joyce D. Dublin excelled as Top 2 in the Professional Level, achieving a rating of 96.47%. Meanwhile, Jermagne Dunst J. Reston secured the fourth spot nationally in the sub-professional level with a rating of 95.56%.
In terms of regional performance, CSC noted that Region 7 made notable passing rates.
The National Capital Region achieved the highest passing rate for the professional level at 19.44% or 7,399 passers out of 38,063 examinees. Meanwhile, Region 1 or the Ilocos Region registered the highest passing rate of 17.33% for the sub-professional level or 251 out of 1,448 examinees.
Daclan mentioned that individuals who did not pass the examination can retake it as many times as they wish, provided they observe a three-month gap before attempting it again.
“Ang pag-take sa exam, pwede ra g’yud until forever basta amo lang gi-set is gap ka og three months,” said Daclan.
Those who passed the CSE Professional Level earn the Career Service Professional Eligibility, qualifying them for permanent jobs in both first-level (clerical) and second-level (technical) positions in the government, as long as these roles don’t require professional licenses or are not governed by the Bar or other laws.
Meanwhile, those who passed the sub-professional level qualified only for first-level positions.
For 23-year-old Ellah Mae Porlas, one of the 3,161 successful examinees in the region, passing the CSE-PPT is a stepping stone to eventually applying for a government position.
“Since the civil service eligibility holds a great honor it would be nice to take the opportunity to apply in the government,” said Porlas.
Right now, applications are still ongoing for the March 2025 CSE-PPT for professional and sub-professional levels, which started from November 19, 2024 to January 3, 2025.
Interested applicants must meet the following qualifications: a Filipino citizen, at least 18 years old on the application date, of good moral character, with no final conviction for offenses involving moral turpitude or similar misconduct.
Also, applicants must also have no record of dishonorable discharge from military service or dismissal for cause from government positions.
The CSC emphasized that educational attainment is not a requirement for the examination and encouraged applicants to submit their applications promptly to secure a slot. BRP (CEBU NEWS)
