CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu City Youth Development Office (CCYDO) has set a special climate action event in line with the National Day for Youth in Climate Action on November 28 at the Cebu City Sports Center.
The event is open to Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) officials, youth and youth-serving organizations, and even individual advocates. The event is expected to provide participants more knowledge on climate issues and sustainable practices.
Participants are expected to collaborate with their fellow youth, environmental groups, and leaders and participate in initiatives that create a lasting impact in the community.
“Let’s unite for a sustainable future and make Cebu City a model for climate action. Don’t just talk about change—be the change!” CCYDO said.
Meanwhile, the CCYDO also hosted two other events over the weekend.
Last Saturday, the Greeneration 2 of TreebYouth for Kalikopan took place in Barangay Taptap with 30 youth organizations and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) groups participated. Participants planted 450 saplings of fruit-bearing plants.
On Sunday, CCYDO initiated Project Happy UTANom alongside Villar Sipag Foundation, City Agriculture Office, Barangay and SK Officials of Santa Cruz.
The initiatives were held to empower the youth by providing practical training and educational resources in basic gardening. The program also included the distribution of seeds and fertilizers along with informative sessions on solid waste management. — (FREEMAN)
