CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu City government accommodated over 30 passengers over the weekend that got stranded due to cancelled boat trips caused by super typhoon Pepito.
The city’s PIO reported that there were at least 27 individuals stranded from two shipping companies going to Hilongos and Ormoc, Leyte, that were docked at pier 3.
At pier 1, there were at least four individuals that also sought the City’s assistance for shelter overnight after their trip to Masbate also got cancelled.
The stranded individuals were brought to the Tinago Gym for shelter.
Aside from that, the City’s Department of Social Welfare Services also provided packed meals for the stranded passengers just like in those previously stranded individuals.
A total of five vessels coming from three ports in Cebu were also reportedly stranded while one sought shelter as per the Philippine Coast Guard’s situational report.
As of 3:20 pm yesterday, the center of the eye of Super Typhoon Pepito made landfall in the vicinity of Dipaculao, Aurora as per DOST-PAGASA.
Meanwhile, the Department of Transportation echoes the call made by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), through Coast Guard Civil Relations Service (CGCRS), for donation to affected families of both typhoon Ofel and Pepito.
The PCG-CGRS had specifically asked for drinking/bottled water, noodles, canned goods, alcohol, bath soap, laundry soap, diapers, medicines, dental hygiene kits, 3-in-1 coffee, rice, biscuits, face mask and blankets.
The CGCRS said perishable goods and used clothes will not be accepted at the moment .(CEBU NEWS)
