CEBU, Philippines — Retired barangay officials in Cebu City are expected to get their gratuity pay while the current Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) had been promised an increase in budget allocation next year by Cebu City Mayor Raymond Garcia.
During a general assembly in Barangay Sawang Calero, Garcia told retired barangay officials of its gratuity pay from the city government possibly by next year, the city’s PIO reported.
Garcia said the city has an ordinance on this matter, which he himself authored for the selfless services rendered by the barangay officials that he wants to be realized already.
Based on the city ordinance, retired barangay captains will get P5,000, while each councilman gets P3,000 per year of service.
Aside from that, Garcia announced that he is going to increase the financial assistance to the SK for their projects.
SKs in each barangay have received P1 million each in the past.
Next year, Garcia is looking at giving away P1.5 to P2 million each.
Aside from that, Garcia also disclosed that honorarium-based workers in the barangay will also get Christmas bonuses on December.
This bonus will come from the Supplemental Budget No. 3 with each of the honorarium-based workers to get P5,000 each.
“Niduol man sila, ‘Mayor, kami diay?’ Mao na, nga akong gibutang sa budget karong Disyembre, inig-approve, first week of December manghatag nata og bonus sa tanang honorarium-based barangay employees; makakuha og five thousand pesos,” Garcia said.
“Sa kadugay nas panahon ang City Hall gali ang makadawat og Chirstmas bonus ang mga regular ug casual. Bag-o lang na kay naa koy ordinansa, makadawat na sad ang job order (nga mga empleyado). Unya karon, ang mga empleyado sa barangay nga nagdawat og honorarium gikan sa Cebu City Government, wa man diay silay bonus, susama ra sa mga tanod, lupon, BEO. Wa man diay,” he added. — (FREEMAN)
