Capitol launches SK “Sugvlog Challenge”

CEBU, Philippines — A vlogging competition among the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federations in Cebu Province will be launched by the Cebu Provincial government to integrate the Cebuano youths into the different initiatives of the province.

Over P12 million worth of infrastructure projects and cash prizes are at stake for the winning SK Federations.

The Capitol is inviting all 51 SK Federations in the province to join the “Sugvlog Challenge” by showcasing the unique culture, sustainable programs, tourism spots, and local attractions in their respective municipalities and cities through vlogs.

The program is organized by the office of Board Member Loren Singco, SK Provincial Federation president.

Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia, in a meeting with SK Federation presidents, board members, Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), and Department of Education Division Superintendents at the Capitol yesterday, October 29, said she has observed that the Cebuano youths are not “fully integrated” into the Capitol programs such as the school feeding program, Sugbo Kahanas, Sugbo Negosyo, caravan of services, and clean and green Baboyan sa Tugkaran, among others.

“I think if pa set-upon nato ang kada munisipyo or siyudad through the SK Federation President og vlog or Facebook page about the beauty of each of their towns and cities, about how our government programs…then this is how we will let the SK to be actively, now involved in all of these programs. Ngano? because they have to report sa vlog,” Garcia said.

To support this program of the SK Federation, Garcia said the Capitol will incentivize the said initiative since this will be a competition among the SK in the towns and cities in the province.

The province will set aside P12.1 million in prizes for the first SK Sugvlog challenge. At least P1 million worth of infrastructure projects await for each of the top 10 winning SK Federations.

On top of it, the Capitol will also give P100,000 each to the top 10. An additional P100,000 cash prize will be given for  the People’s Choice Award, according to the Capitol’s News arm Sugbo News.

Each town and city will produce a 3-5 minute video content that will be posted through their Facebook pages to showcase all about the culture, sustainable programs, and tourism attractions in their respective localities.

“Ipakita ninyo ang inyong grasp, unsay level ninyo sa available nga technology now, that you are so lucky to be born in. Show your creativity, innovativeness and more so, ipakita sa vlog ang inyong in-depth knowledge and appreciation of the programs of Cebu,” Garcia told the SK Federation presidents.

Top Cebuano vloggers will be tapped to select the winners in the competition which will be announced on December 16. —/FPL (FREEMAN)
