Migs Magpale joins Team Frasco

CEBU, Philippines — The son of former Cebu Vice Governor Agnes Magpale and now incumbent Danao City Councilor Miguel “Migs” Magpale will seek the mjayoral post in next year’s midterm polls.

Magpale, who was with the Durano-led Barug Alang sa Kauswagan ug Demokrasya Party (BAKUD, during the previous election, has decided to run for mayor in the city under Team Frasco, BAKUD’s rival political group led by fifth district congressman Duke Frasco.

Magpale did not give further details on his decision to switch party and run for Mayor saying he will give more details at some other time.

“I’m doing this for the people of Danao,” he told reporters yesterday adding that once he is given the chance to lead Danao next year, one of his priority projects is to finish the new Danao Public Market.

But when asked if his decision has approval from his mother, former Vice Governor Magpale, Miguel said there’s none.

“Unfortunately, I don’t have a blessing from Vice (Gov) Agnes Magpale. I’m hoping for some approval but at this point, that is something I cannot force” he said.

Miguel is the youngest son of former VG Magpale. He was elected then as a council member of Danao in the 2010 elections and then he replaced his mother, Agnes as a board member, when Agnes who assumed the post vacated by the late Vice Governor Gregorio.

Meanwhile, the BAKUD party introduced the incumbent Danao City Mayor Mix Durano as its bet for the congressional post in the fifth district.

The party bared Mix’s three-decade career in public service from being a captain in Guinsay Barangay Captain to City Councilor then vice mayor, and now city mayor.  — (FREEMAN)
