CEBU, Philippines — The last day of voter registration held in a mall in the North Reclamation Area was thronged by last-day registrants yesterday.

However, the registration was conducted smoothly as the Commission on Elections said they were prepared for this scenario.

Last-day registrants mostly cited their busyness that led them to register late.

Carcar City Election Officer Omar Shariff Mamalinta said intensive and massive information dissemination was done to remind people to register, but some still waited until the last minute to register, transfer, reactivate, or correct entries.

Despite this, Mamalinta said the Register Anywhere Program in various cities including Mandaue, Lapu-Lapu, and Cebu was able to cater to many applicants.

Mamalinta also said they are coordinating with the Carcar Police Station for the filing of certificates of candidacy from October 1 to 8, 2024. — BANAT News (FREEMAN)
