CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu Provincial Hospital (CPH) in Bogo city has expanded its services and operations by increasing its bed capacity and establishing hemodialysis units.
Capitol officials led by Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia as well as the head of CPH-Bogo inaugurated the newly constructed extension building which was named after the late provincial board member Horacio “Raci” Franco.
The “Raci Franco Building” is a P363 million facilitiy funded from the different resources. It was the late board member Franco who pushed for the construction of the said facility by looking for funds to make the said medical facility realized.
Franco went to the different senators like senators Risa Hontiveros, Koko Pimentel, Loren Legarda, JV Ejercito as well as former senators Bam Aquino, Sonny Angara and Kiko Pangilinan to ask for funds for the construction of the said building. All in all this fun reached to P342. 4 million from the said national officials.
The construction of the said building started in 2018, the completion was delayed due to pandemic and unfortunately, Franco was not able to witness the opening of the said building as he passed away in September 2022.
“To be honest, I wasn’t at all confident that I would see this project completed. Every time I asked about project updates, nobody could give me a straight answer on when it would be completed,” board Carmela Franco said during the inauguration.
Carmela who replaced her husband as board member of the fourth district thanked those who made the project possible in honor of his late husband.
With the new hospital building in CPH-Bogo, the hospital capacity of the said facility increased from 100 to over 226 bed capacity which could accommodate more patients in the northern towns and city of Cebu Province.
Aside from the new building, a 15-unit hemodialysis center at CPH-Bogo has also been inaugurated on September 26, which is expected to benefit renal patients in the north.
The said dialysis units add to the existing hemodialysis machines operating to different provincial and district hospitals of Cebu Province. Currently, the number of hemodialysis units in the provincial -run hospital is 92.
CPH-Bogo has also acquired a new CT-Scan unit. — (FREEMAN)
