CEBU, Philippines — A total of 100 displaced workers in the mountain barangay of Cambinocot, Cebu City received hog raising livelihood package from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) - 7.
The recipients, during the physical turnover ceremony, received piglets, sacks of starter feeds, sacks of grower feeds, vitamins, and dewormer.
DOLE Tri-City Field Office (TCFO) chief, Marites Mercado said that each of the hundred beneficiaries received P29,000 worth of livelihood assistance packages, with each having their pigpens as a counterpart.
This livelihood initiative is part of the P3.2 million worth of assistance provided by DOLE-7, benefiting farmers, vendors, other displaced workers in Cebu City, and former DOLE-7 security guards.
Apart than that, DOLE-7, led by its regional director Lilia Estillore also released last Aug. 31, materials and equipment to other displaced workers in the city, under the agency's integrated livelihood program.
The equipment and materials released to beneficiaries would be used for various projects, such as rice retailing, sari-sari store, peanut selling, furniture-making, and fresh dressed chicken selling. - ATO (CEBU NEWS)
