CONCRETE ROAD PROJECTS
Meanwhile, with the aim to fix the road situation in some areas in the city, the Lapu-Lapu City Government opened two concrete road projects to the public in two sitios in Barangay Pusok yesterday, September 22, 2024.
Residents of Sitios Sewage and Ihawan in Barangay Pusok now have better road access with the opening of the new roads, which was previously a mire path for them.
Mayor Junard "Ahong" Chan, who led the inauguration of the two road concreting projects in the barangay, said that there are still other roads in the city that need to be fixed.
"Siguro dili nato madungan ang tanan apan ang importante dunay gibuhat...gitanaw ang matag problema sa matag purok, sa matag sitio, sa matag barangay," said Chan.
In addition, a drainage system was also constructed in Sitio Sewage to prevent the buildup of water, that turns the path where residents pass through murky.
Chan said that the development in the sitio was a "dream come true" for the residents.
"Kini nga lugar dugay na ni gipangandoy sa atong mga kaigsuonan nga magpasemento ug mabutangan og drainage kay grabe ka hitak ang maong agi-anan," said Chan.
The city mayor added that the opening of the road projects and the development of drainage system in the sitios was made possible through the cooperation of the residents and his fellow city officials.
The project is under the Ahong Cares Bayanihan Road Project aimed to concrete and develop roads in Lapu-Lapu City, particularly interior roads in barangays.
Also present during the inauguration were Vice Mayor Celedonio "Celsi" Sitoy, other City and Barangay officials.
