Sewage treatment plant needed for Pasil market

Caecent No-ot Magsumbol - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — Cebu City acting mayor Raymond Garcia has stressed anew the need to have a sewage treatment plant for the Pasil Fish Market, as well the neighboring areas.

This came after another inspection done by Garcia of the Pasil Fish Market, which he initially inspected last week.

Una sa tanan atong gitan-aw ang kondisyon sa atong market ug unsay working condition diri. So, nakita nato naa gyuy baho unya hugaw gyud. Mao na nga atong gitan-aw og unsay atong mahimo para ma-resolve ni ingon ani dinagko nga problema,  Garcia said via the City s information office.

Prior to his inspection, Garcia already barred his plans to have an STP in the area.

Garcia emphasized the importance of having an STP in the area for the protection of marine life and the people as well.

Aside from the Pasil fishport, Garcia is also looking at having an STP in the neighboring communities.

This came after Garcia also observed that many residents are also discharging wastewater directly into the sea.Garcia said he will look into where to get funding for it.

Aside from that, Garcia is also looking into banning big trucks transporting fish in the area.

Ako ning paadtuan og taga-Cebu City Transportation Office to study the possibility nga tingal ig ang dagkong mga trak di na makasud diri, mga gagmay nalang maybe six-wheelers and below,  he said.Gani, karon mingaw pa. Can you imagine karong taudtaud, alas dose, ala-una, og unsa ni ka grabe ang mga tawo modagsa na gyud ba unsa na kahasol ug kasamok. Unya ato sang mga buyers sa mga isda sa retail, can you imagine naa silay sakyanan or motorsiklo inigsud nila didto, mopalit sila, maglisud na tungod sa kapuno,  Garcia added.(CEBU NEWS)
