Dr. Maamo appointed as CH's new medical consultant

CEBU, Philippines — Cebu City acting Mayor Raymond Garcia has tapped political aspirant Dr. Marlo Maamo as his new medical consultant.

Garcia announced Dr. Maamo’s appointment as consultant for “medical matters” last Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2024.

Dr. Maamo also confirmed to The Freeman his new task in the City Hall while on his way to Dubai yesterday.

According to the City’s Information Office, with more than a month left as acting mayor, Garcia expressed his intention for the revival of the city’s Preventive Health Care Program with Dr. Maamo leading the charge.

The program, accordingly, will be for the provision of maintenance medicines to the residents in the city who are in need.

“Yesterday (Tuesday pa na-announce as consultant of the City mayor for health matters in general, but naay specific program sad pa handle kadto daily distribution of maintenance medicines (Resulta Garantiya Medical Action Program),” Maamo said.

Garcia is looking into re-starting the program at the start of 2025 after sorting out the source of funds for it.

Meanwhile, Dr. Maamo also confirmed his bid to run as city councilor in the North District anew in the upcoming mid-term elections under Partido Kusug—acting Mayor Garcia’s political party.

Maamo ran for north district congressional candidate for Cebu City in 2012 and as city councilor in 2019.

Even before his election bid anew, Dr. Maamo disclosed that he has been initiating medical missions in the barangays in the city.
