CEBU, Philippines — There are only 21 days left for those aspiring to register and be able to participate in the May 2025 national and local elections.

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) reminded the public that registration of local and overseas voters is only until Sept. 30.

“Visit the official Comelec Facebook for the available schedule of satellite registration or click the link for the address of Office of Election Officers nationwide,” the Commission posted on social media.

Since the start of the registration period in February, Comelec Chairman George Garcia reported that they have already processed a total of 5,940,192 applications for registration.

CALABARZON still has the biggest number of applicants with 984,861 followed by the National Capital Region (NCR) with 782,838; and Central Luzon with 671,859.

On the other hand, the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) registered the lowest number of applications with only 83,732. Females accounted for 3,057,547 of the total applications processed while males comprised 2,882,645.

However, the Commission also reported that it has deactivated a total of 5,376,630 voters, the majority of whom failed to vote in the past two elections.

Garcia urged the millions of deactivated to reactivate their status before the end of the registration period. The Commission is no longer extending the registration period.

Aside from those deactivated, the Comelec also removed from the list of voters a total of 714,152 voters as of July 15. Most of those deleted were due to death or transfer to another place. —/FPL (FREEMAN)
