CEBU, Philippines — Thousands of parents and guardians of Grade 11 and 12 students in public schools received educational assistance under the Tulong Eskwela Program, implemented by the national government through the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s Ayuda Para sa Kapos ang Kita Program (AKAP) and facilitated by local legislators.

In Mandaue City, Lone District Representative Emmarie “Lolypop” Ouano Dizon and Cebu Sixth District Board Member Thadeo “Jonkie” Ouano led the distribution of P3,000 each to the 1,219 first batch beneficiaries of the program.

Speaking before the first batch of beneficiaries at Barangay Opao Gymnasium, Ouano-Dizon stated that the national government has allocated P10 million for the parents of Grade 12 students, benefiting approximately 2,700 individuals.

“But si Board Jonkie nakapamarayeg pa man gyud siya og additional P10 million from the Office of House Speaker Martin Romualdez mao na nga hasta ang atong grade 11 nga 3,700 ka buok, ang ilang parents or guardians makadawat sad sila og tag P3,000 each,” said Ouano-Dizon in a separate interview.

Ouano-Dizon added that a total of P20 million will be disbursed to the parents and guardians of all Grade 11 and Grade 12 students in Mandaue City’s public schools.

“Ang kaning gibuhat nato karon kay first batch pa lang ni but represented ang tanang public schools sa Mandaue nga naay senior high. The rest of the payout will be done in batches, siguro nga lima pa ka batch and it will be done in different barangays,” Ouano-Dizon added.

The event is part of the nationwide launch of the Tulong Eskwela Program (TEP), which extends assistance to families with senior high school children in 220 other areas.

An estimated 660,000 parents or guardians are expected to benefit from this program nationwide.

Similar activities were also initiated by Cebu Sixth District Representative Daphne Lagon, Ako Bisaya Partylist Representative Sonny Lagon, Lapu-Lapu City Lone District Representative Cindi King-Chan, Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Junard Chan, and Cebu City North District Representative Edu Rama.

“Ang among daku pasalamat ug suporta sa mga  programs sa atong gobyerno pinaagi sa inisyatiba ni Speaker Martin Romualdez ug miyembro sa 19th Congress na naglansad na usab sa Tulong Eskwela Program aron paghatag ug suporta sa atong mga Senior High School na mga estudyante,” said Rep.
