From Capitol: Bantayan students get school, hygiene kits

CEBU, Philippines — A total of 48,989 students in Bantayan Island were among the beneficiaries of this year’s Balik Eskwela Program of the Cebu Provincial Government.

The students from the towns of Bantayan, Madridejos, and Santa Fe received school supplies and hygiene kits from the Capitol.

According to Sugbo News, the Capitol’s official media arm, Governor Gwendolyn Garcia led the ceremonial distribution of the aid during another set of the Caravan of Government Services in

Madridejos, Bantayan Island last Wednesday, August 28, 2024.

To provide school supplies and hygiene kits to public school students in the province, the Capitol, through the Provincial School Board chaired by Garcia, has allocated P389,999,050 for the program this year.

The school supplies include papers, pencils, ballpens, crayons, school bags, plastic envelopes, rulers, sandals, and T-shirts, while the hygiene kits contain toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, and alcohol.

Also present during the distribution were Provincial Board members Kerrie Keane Shimura of the fourth district, Glenn Anthony Soco of the sixth district, and Stanley Caminero of the second district.

Madridejos Mayor Romeo Villaceran, Bantayan Mayor Arthur Despi, Santa Fe Mayor Ithamar Espinosa, along with local officials, teachers, and students all over Bantayan Island were also in attendance. —/ATO (FREEMAN)
