P17.7M reinforced box culverts inaugurated in Carcar

CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu Provincial Government inaugurated last August 9, 2024 the P17.7 million worth of newly-completed reinforced concrete box culverts in Sitio Tapal, Brgy. Guadalupe, Carcar City that aims to provide safe and uninterrupted flow of the river.

Governor Gwendolyn Garcia led the inauguration of the single-barrel and three-barrel box culverts, which are now operational after several months of construction.

In a report by Sugbo News, Capitol’s official media arm, the single-barrel box culvert that measures 4.26 meters in length, and 7.32 in width was built at a cost of P8.129 million.

Construction cost of the three-barrel box culverts with a length of 12.10 meters and a width of 7.32 meters was at P9.615 million.

This infrastructure project, according to Sugbo News, was built to allow uninterrupted flow of the river, and a more stable road that traverses above a waterway.

The newly built culverts were also designed to ensure a safer road for residents who cross the river, especially when it rains.

Guadalupe barangay captain Rey Anthony Lawas expressed his gratitude to the Provincial Government for realizing the project.

“Daghan gyod kaayong salamat, Gov. Dili na gyod namo ma-feel nga during gamay ra gyod nga uwan, mobaha dayon ug manawag ang mga maestra para magpa-rescue,” Lawas said in his speech.

The inauguration was also attended by Carcar City Mayor Patrick Barcenas and the city's councilors. — (FREEMAN)
