In the same even, The Freeman s sports writer and investigative journalist Caecent Magsumbol was also named as among the Philippine Empowered Men and Women of the Year 2024 .
In an interview, Richard Hi ola, Best Magazine founder, said that The Freeman edged the others due to its length of service, as the community paper marked its 105th year last July 18.
The credibility, at the same time, yung longevity yung newspaper, kaya na award-dan tong The Freeman. And even up to now, I am so glad at hindi ako na surprise, na nag-collaborate with The Philippine Star, and the Philippine Star is among the leading newspapers in the Philippines, he said.
