Police seize P44M drugs, apprehend 569 suspects

CEBU, Philippines — In its ongoing anti-drug efforts, the Police Regional Office-7 seized illegal drugs worth P44 million and arrested 569 individuals in Central Visayas.

The PRO-7 reported that 6.5 kilograms of drugs were confiscated in various operations starting from the third week of July.

The drugs have an estimated value of P44,782,284.00, and authorities also seized drug paraphernalia and arrested 161 suspects.

In addition, of the 569 arrested 266 were involved in illegal gambling activities while 18 were suspects for illegal possession of firearms.

Authorities also apprehended 124 of the most wanted suspects through the execution of arrest warrants.

In response, PRO-7 Director Police Brigadier General Anthony Aberin praised his men for their successful campaign against illegal activities.

“Your PRO 7 will be relentless, uncompromising and determined to put these criminals in force of the law, with your assistance towards the realization of the BIDA Program of Atty Benjamin Abalos Jr”, Aberin added. — (FREEMAN)
