CEBU, Philippines — A Heritage Preservation masterclass that will be handled by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) is set to take place starting August 2 here in Cebu City.
The activity, intended mainly for Cebu City Hall employees, will be participated by around 60 employees from the City government.
These employees will be coming from the Department of General Services and its Building Maintenance Section, Parks and Playgrounds Fort San Pedro; and other interested offices.
“Atong priority is Cebu City Hall employee siya, but welcome ang mga private individuals, kadtong gusto nga moapil,” said Cebu City Cultural and Historical Affairs Office’s (CHAO) assistant head Bryner Diaz through the City’s PIO.
The event, which serves as one of the activities in the Cebu Arts Month, aims to impart more knowledge to the concerned departments in the City Hall on heritage preservation.
“Part na sa atong capacity development program nga i-equip sila with the right knowledge and skills para makatabang diri sa atoa sa pag-preserve. Mao ni ang tuyo nga mapalig-on pa gyud ang heritage preservation, ang atoang pagpanalipod pag-preserve sa atoang mga heritage,” Diaz added.
The workshop will run for 22 days and will be for free, but participants are expected to render their services acquired from it.
“Ang giplano man ani ni Architect Melva Java, usa sa mga commissioners sa CHAC, we will create a pool of workers nga pananglitan og naay mangaguba, pananglitan og naay mga i-preserve, kaning mga tawhana maoy kuhaon dayon,” Diaz explained.
“Di na magkuha og mga tawo gikan sa layo. So, naa na diri. I-equip na nato ang taga-Cebu City sa knowledge and skills nga unsaon ni sila pag-ayo...naay makuha dayon ba nga nakahibawo unsay mga history ani nga mga structures. Mas convenient for the city and mas beneficial sa pag-preserve sa atong heritage,” he added. –/ATO (FREEMAN)
