PRO-7 gears up security plans for start of classes

CEBU, Philippines — As most students all over the country prepare for the start of classes this July 29, 2024, police are also assuring the public that security measures will be in place to ensure the safety of the students and the general public.

According to Police Lieutenant Colonel Gerard Ace Pelare, spokesperson of Police Regional Office (PRO)-7 Regional Director Brigadier General Anthony Aberin, they have laid out all the necessary preparations, including an inventory of how many schools there are in Central Visayas.

Based on their monitoring, 3,854 schools will open classes by the end of the month where most of them are public schools.

Lt. Col. Pelare said that the opening of the classes will be given utmost attention because the police want to ensure the safety of the students.

"We start it when it open, mabantayan ninyo moapil mi sa Brigada eskwela, manglimpyo sa eskwelahan, magkig-meeting sa PTA because we really take it seriously as our function to make sure that safe atong mga schools," said Lt. Col. Pelare.

When classes open, Pelare said they will set up Police Assistance Desks (PADS) in all schools so parents, students and teachers can reach them immediately.

Apart from this, Brigadier General Anthony Aberin also ordered all station commanders to meet with the Parents Teachers Association.

PRO-7 will also deploy foot and mobile patrols in all schools to make sure that there are no security issues until the end of the school year. – /ATO (FREEMAN)
