CEBU, Philippines — Metro Manila, Metro Cebu and other major cities in the Philippines celebrated Filipino-Chinese Friendship Day last Sunday, June 9, 2024.
The celebration involved some activities spearheaded by Filipino and Chinese communities in the country to mark their decades-old partnership.
It was held to promote peace and unity, and create collaborative ties that benefit both Filipino and Chinese communities.
In Cebu, hundreds participated in a “Friendship Walk and Tree and Ornaments Planting” that was held during the celebration. The event was graced by Consul General Zhang Zhen of People’s Republic of China.
The event was headed by the Federation of Filipino Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc., together with the Cebu Mandaue Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industries Inc., in cooperation with Mandaue City government through Kristian Marc Cabahug, Executive Director of Mandaue Investment Promotions Tourism Action Center.
Other participating organizations included Cebu Filipino Chinese Chamber of Commerce, Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce of Cebu, Philippines, Phil. Cebu Lam An Chamber of Commerce, Mandaue Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Cebu Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Inc., Merchant's Cultural Foundation of Cebu, Inc., Cebu Jinjiang Association Cebu Chapter, Cebu Filipino Chinese Amity Club, Inc., Asian Medical Students' Association - Service-Oriented Medical Advocates, Cebu Doctor’s University Asian Medical Students’ Association - Accentuating Lives through Service and Advocacy (AMSA-ALSA), Philippine Chee Kung Tong Chinese Free Mason Inc. Cebu Chapter, Philippine Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc., Cebu Chapter, Cebu Xinhua Chamber of Commerce Inc., Cebu Centennial Lions Club, Mandaue Host Lions Club, Cebu Kabanay Lions Club, Cebu Council of Lions Clubs Presidents and 16 different Family Associations in Cebu. — (FREEMAN)
