Man stabbed dead by older brother

CEBU, Philippines — What seemed like an ideal familial bond turned into a story of betrayal and bloodshed between brothers after a 43-year-old man died after being stabbed with a bolo by his older brother in Purok Thailand, Bogo City, Cebu, Sunday afternoon.

The victim was identified as Nestor Sayson Limpag, 43, a construction worker and a resident of Purok Texas, Barangay Libertad. The suspect was his older brother Benjie Sayson Limpag, 46, also a construction worker, and also a resident of the said place.

The Bogo City Police Station said the two brothers were making charcoal when an altercation erupted. It escalated and before long the suspect got a bolo and stabbed the victim in the sternum.

Police Chief Master Sergeant Jim Susvilla said the victim was rushed by the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office to the Cebu Provincial Hospital Bogo City but he was declared dead on arrival.

The suspect is currently detained at the Bogo City Police Station and will be charged with homicide. —  Jonnavie Villa, Romeo Marantal (FREEMAN)
