Garcia dismayed over delays in Guba hospital completion

CEBU, Philippines — Acting Cebu City Mayor Raymond Alvin Garcia wants an answer why the delay in the construction of Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC) extension in the upland barangay Guba.

Garcia expressed his dismay over the unfinished construction of the hospital which allegedly started six years ago.

The acting mayor, who visited the hospital over the weekend, said that the Guba Hospital now needs rehabilitation even before its completion.

"In fact, I would already say nga 90 to 95% of it is already complete and sa perspective sa ilang drawing perti gyung nindota. However, wa pa magamit because of some issues that I really have to look into," said Garcia.

Garcia said he is set to meet with the City Health Department and the CCMC management to ask for answers why the delay in the completion of the Guba Hospital.

The acting mayor also wants to meet the officials of the Department of Health (DOH) and the contractor.

"Because as I have learned, six years ago pa ni nasugdan then hangtod karon, wa pa gyud mahuman or wa gihapon ma occupy, there is really a problem," said Garcia.

He said he wants to know the problem why the contractor failed to complete the project until now.

Garcia vowed to give the matter a priority because it concerns health services to the residents in the mountain barangays.

Garcia said the constituents in the mountain barangays do not have any other health facility to run to except the Guba Hospital.

"They have to come down 30 minutes to an hour if they want to get into a fully equipped hospital so to speak so that's why I am giving this my priority," said Garcia.

"So it really has potential and sayang lang because pag-adto gali nako naay duha, tulo ka pasyente, not many but naay pasyente, so it really shows nga ang hospital nga naa sa kabukiran importante kaayo sa atong mga kaigsuonan," Garcia added. — (FREEMAN)
