MCIA has new X-ray machines

CEBU, Philippines — Two new state-of-the-art X-ray machines have recently been installed at the Mactan-Cebu International Airport Terminal 2 International Arrivals Area.

In their Facebook post, the Bureau of Customs-Port of Cebu said BOC Commissioner Bienvenido Rubio recently inspected the newly-installed Rapiscan 920CT X-ray machine and the Tek84 Intercept body scanner.

Both were rigorously tested for their efficiency in detecting illegal contraband and enhancing border security in Central Visayas.

The Rapiscan 920CT X-ray machine enhances the detection of explosives and concealed objects while the Tek84 Intercept body scanner detects metallic and nonmetallic objects, screening up to 180 individuals per hour. It also has a thermal camera for health risk detection.

Rubio said these advanced X-ray machines are a significant step forward in fortifying our borders and deterring illegal contraband.

He was joined by key officials including deputy commissioner for the Intelligence Group Juvymax Uy, Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service director Verne Enciso, X-Ray Inspection Project head Ronie Principe, X-Ray Inspection Project assistant head Atty. Ma. Liza Sebastian, Subport of Mactan collector Gerardo Campo, and Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Junard “Ahong” Chan.

Rubio also visited the Port of Cebu to review the port’s operations where he was welcomed by district collector Romeo Allan Rosales who presented the port’s revenue collection efforts, which are on track to surpass May’s targets.

Rubio and his team also toured the Customer Care Center, Assessment Division, Piers and Inspection Division, and the Administrative Division. He

commended the team for their commitment to serving stakeholders and clients.

“The Port of Cebu remains committed to lawful revenue collection, efficient trade facilitation, and robust border protection, ensuring the continuous improvement of its services and operations for the benefit of all stakeholders,” BOC-Port of Cebu said.
