191 hired on the spot in Labor Day job fairs

CEBU, Philippines —  A  total of 191 applicants were hired on the spot (HOTS) during the two simultaneous Labor Job Fairs in Cebu City and in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental.

In Cebu City, the Labor Day Job Fair that was held at the City Wing Atrium, SM Seaside City Cebu yielded 169 HOTS among the 545 registered applicants.

The positions that got the highest number of applicants hired on the spot include, dealers (21); service crew (17); ESL camp teacher (13); ESL teacher (13); sales clerk (12); cashier (11); customer service relations; merchandiser (6); teacher (5); and customer service representative (4).

The said Job Fair offered 3,051 job vacancies from 19 participating employers.

In Dumaguete City, the Labor Day Job Fair held at the Lamberto Macias Sports and Cultural Center produced 22 HOTS from the 120 applicants that registered.

The HOTS were for several positions, including: process associate (9); customer service representative (7); service crew (3); baker counter crew and dishwasher.

The 22 employers participating in the said Job Fair offered 1,155 vacancies.

DOLE-7 said that Cebu City Job Fair reached 31 percent HOTS accomplishment rate with the Dumaguete City Job fair achieving 18.33 percent against the target of 18 percent.

The conduct of the said job fairs, DOLE said, is in line with the 122nd Labor Day celebration that is anchored on the theme, “Sa Bagong Pilipinas: Manggagawang Pilipino, Kabalikat at Kasama sa Pag-asenso.”

The Job Fair program is envisioned to contribute to the outcome of expanding access to employment and gainful opportunities which is critical in the increasing income-earning ability of our workforce under the Philippine Development Plan (PDP) 2023 –2028.

Also highlighting the celebration were other parallel activities, including a motorcade participated by various Industry Tripartite Councils (ITCs) and Tripartite Industrial Peace Councils (TIPCs) and the provision of One-Stop-Shop Services in close collaboration with the DOLE-7’s partner-agencies.

Other activities included the Kadiwa Ng Pangulo in coordination with DA, DTI, DSWD, and DILG; the Commemorative Program in Talisay City, Robinson’s Galleria Cebu, Bohol, Siquijor, and Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental; and the recognition of partners in the implementation of the Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES).

Also celebrated were the Lechon Festival in Talisay City; mass oath-taking of the BODs of the different ITCs and ITCs; release of stipend for the beneficiaries of the Government Internship Program (GIP); and the Distribution of Government Assistance through the DOLE-7 under its TUPAD and Livelihood Program; among others.
